Create With Passion

 Be eager, be determined and no matter how tedious it may seem at times keep on pushing. Have zeal, drive and be devoted to your project. Others we be able to tell if your serious about the progress of your work or not. Never rush, set out blocks of time so you can take your time and not leave any loose ends, finish what you start. I try to do one project at a time. When you tend to bounce around you leave loose ends all over the place. You want to start and finish and move on to the next thing. Just because you work from home doesn't mean you shouldn't have order or a daily plan. Just like a 9-5 outside of the home pick a block of time that is strictly dedicated daily to your project from start to finish. Let your answering service take messages and put that phone down, as a matter of fact turn off all distractions so you can stay focused. I like to listen to music sometimes when I am working on something but even sometimes if I find it distracting I am not hesitant to cut it off.

Organization is the key to keeping things flowing. A place for everything and everything in its place so you don't waste work time hunting for things. Lay it all out in your work space like an assembly line.

When you take pride in your work, you protect it. Keep finished projects covered, accidents happen. All it takes is a knocked over cup of coffee or soda pop on something you are making to cause a disaster especially if it's something made of easily stained materials. Eat and drink before or after your start working, better safe than sorry. All in all work at a pace and on a daily schedule that is good for you so you won't burn yourself out. Find a way to balance your time if you're a homemaker or stay at home mom so that you can take care of your children, your home and your crafts. Every now and then take a little time for yourself. There is nothing wrong with a short break or two during the day to give your brain and body a rest. Just develop a system and try to stick to it. Remember the more persistent and consistent you are in developing your craft the quicker and bigger your inventory grows.
